Comments on June 2011
June’s weather at Durham was mixed: warm days at the beginning and end of the month, but disappointing temperatures, some cool nights especially, in the middle of the month. It was often cloudy with some rain, although nothing very heavy.

Daytime temperatures were well above average but night-time temperatures just below; overall, mean air temperature was above average therefore. The absolute maximum and absolute minimum were the highest and lowest respectively since 2005. There was the first ground frost in June since 1998.

Rainfall was (just) below average for the 4th month in a row. The 12-month running total is now very close to average, whilst the 3-month and 6-month totals remain well below average.

Sunshine was well below average, but the cumulative total for the year remains well above average.
